Denish Shah and Rebecca Slotegraaf Appointed Board Members

The Sheth Foundation is pleased to announce the appointments of Dr. Denish Shah and Dr. Rebecca J. Slotegraaf to its Board of Directors in 2026. Both are distinguished marketing scholars whose research, leadership, and service to the discipline reflect the Foundation’s enduring mission to advance marketing scholarship globally.

Dr. Denish Shah

Dr. Shah is the Kenneth L. Bernhardt Distinguished Department Chair and Barbara and Elmer Sunday Professor of Marketing at Georgia State University’s J. Mack Robinson College of Business, where he was appointed Chair of the Department of Marketing in September 2025. He serves as Executive Director of the Robinson Marketing RoundTable and as Founding Director of the Social Media Intelligence Lab.

His research broadly examines customer management strategies, data- and technology-mediated marketing, and the societal impact of marketing — with publications in Journal of Marketing Research, Marketing Science, Journal of Marketing, Harvard Business Review, and Sloan Management Review, among others. He is co-editor of the Handbook of Research on Customer Equity in Marketing. A 2015 MSI Young Scholar, Dr. Shah received the Varadarajan Award in 2018, recognizing the top global marketing scholar within ten years of receiving a doctoral degree. He holds a Ph.D. in Marketing from the University of Connecticut, an MBA from École des Ponts Business School in France, and a Bachelor of Engineering from Mumbai University.

Dr. Rebecca J. Slotegraaf

Dr. Slotegraaf is the Neal Gilliatt Chair, Professor of Marketing, and Associate Dean for Research at Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business, where she has served on the faculty since 2000. In 2025, she was inducted as the Kelley School’s first American Marketing Association Fellow — among the highest distinctions in the marketing discipline — recognizing her significant contributions to research, theory, and practice.

Her work focuses on marketing strategy, with particular attention to how new product introductions, environmental sustainability, and brand strength shape financial performance and competitive advantage. She has published in the Journal of Marketing, Journal of Marketing Research, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, International Journal of Research in Marketing, and Organization Science, and currently serves as Associate Editor for both the Journal of Marketing and Journal of Marketing Research. Notably, her scholarship earned the Jagdish N. Sheth Awardfor the best paper published in JAMS in 2004 — a meaningful connection to the Foundation’s namesake. Dr. Slotegraaf currently serves on the AMA Board of Directors and is a longtime Faculty Fellow of the AMA-Sheth Doctoral Consortium. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and an M.S. in Management from Purdue University.

Welcoming Their Leadership

Dr. Shah and Dr. Slotegraaf join a Board of Directors composed of globally recognized marketing scholars who hold professorships and endowed chairs at leading universities worldwide. Their combined expertise — spanning customer management, digital transformation, innovation, marketing strategy, and the financial and societal impact of marketing — will help guide the Foundation’s continuing work to develop marketing scholars and elevate the impact of marketing thought.

The Sheth Foundation, founded in 1991 by Dr. Jagdish N. Sheth and Madhu Sheth, is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to developing and recognizing scholars and scholarship in marketing globally. The Foundation extends a warm welcome to its newest Board members and looks forward to their contributions in the years ahead.
